The ongoing crisis in Côte d'Ivoire is infinitely more complex than the media has made it out to be (see interesting discussion here and here). Good thing we have Gary Lane of the Christian Broadcasting Network, who visited Côte d'Ivoire to cut through the spin.
Ouatarra and his supporters claim Gbagbo was chosen president by his political friends on the Council, but when I met with them this week, they appeared to me to be honest men and women of integrity. Some have PhD's and are well versed in Ivorian constitutional law. They did not resemble political hacks. Instead, I felt I was in the presence of the best and brightest legal minds of Cote d'Ivoire.Thank god -just what we needed - an honest assessment of the situation, straight from the gut. Although, Lane seems to have only met with Gbagbo supporters during the whole visit (including an extensive interview with Charles Goudé, a complete thug). Why is that?
So, Cote d’Ivoire’s Christian president refuses to step aside.Oh, that's right, the opposition leader is Muslim.
Hat tip to Texas In Africa.

It wouldn't be an Islamophobic party if they didn't invite Pamela Geller.

Since Goude was mentioned in a cable from the US Embassy in Abidjan publicized by Wikileaks one would think the CBN might have come across this if someone had done a quick search:
"Ble Goude was placed under UN sanctions on February 7, 2006 for repeated public statements advocating violence against UN installations, UN personnel, and foreigners, as well as directing and participating in acts of violence by street militias, including beatings, rapes, and extrajudicial killings."
