Spotted via Marginal Revolution: an online (pay-for-access) service;Â a large library with some of the best of Africa cinema. I've yet to try it out - but it looks pretty sleek. There's a heavy bias towards North and West African/French-language films, although this is likely due to the concentration of the industry. I'm excited.

me, too. my internet connection won't be fast enough, but what a great idea. West Africa has a richer history of film, so the bias isn't surprising.
I commented on the MR post on this as well. may put some thoughts on African film in a blog some time. In the meantime, I can strenuously recommend Sembene's most recent film, Moolade.
